About Us
Whale Large Capitals
Think like a whale. Get paid first.
Every week, Washington, the Fed and Wall Street publish their plans in plain sight. The big players read the fine print first and move before everyone else. This newsletter reads it for you every morning and tells you exactly where you stand.
Why "whales"
On Wall Street, whales are the players with enough capital to move markets and enough information to move first. Everyone else learns what happened from the evening news, usually after the price has already changed.
WhaleLargeCapitals exists to close that gap. We show a self-directed investor how large capital actually protects itself, and how to run the same playbook at his own scale.
There is always a line
When a company goes bust, the money is paid out in a strict order. It's written into the law. Most people never read it, which is why most people end up at the bottom.
Secured creditors
Paid first. They hold claims on real assets.
Senior claims
Paid next. Usually made whole or close to it.
Junior claims
Paid if anything is left.
Common shareholders
Usually nothing. This is where most savers stand.
We read the news the same way. Governments, central banks, big banks and big healthcare are the Management. Savers, retirees and taxpayers are the Shareholders. Management rarely needs a conspiracy. Its incentives are enough, and they are public if you know where to look.
Every issue answers one question: who moves up the line this week, who moves down, and what you can do about it. We call it the Senior Claim Method.
What's inside every letter
One letter lands in your inbox every morning. Each one is built the same way, so you always know where to look.
The Audit
The morning's biggest headline, taken apart. Who gains, who loses, and where that leaves you.
The Fine Print
The exact line from the original source behind the headline, with a link so you can read it yourself. The part nobody reads out loud.
The Protocol
A short checklist you can act on today. A backup power setup, a Medicare deadline, a vault comparison, a tax move.
The Boardroom
A reader question answered, the latest on our small speculative bets, and a one-click vote on what we dig into next.
What we cover
Hard assets. Gold and silver, land, tax liens, whiskey, collectibles. Always with the real costs shown: dealer premiums, storage fees and what you'd get if you had to sell next week.
Your health, your most valuable asset. How to manage the healthcare system like a vendor instead of trusting it blindly. Medication reviews, Medicare fine print, medical bills, and supplements graded by the evidence behind them.
Self-reliance. Backup power, solar, water, food storage and responsible firearm ownership. Treated as engineering, with budgets and maintenance schedules, not as a doomsday fantasy.
Exit options. Lower-tax states, retiring abroad, residency programs and asset protection. Every strategy comes with its real cost and the level of savings at which it starts to make sense.
The five percent sleeve. Asymmetric bets and side income, handled with discipline. Never more than 5% of your savings, and every idea states in advance exactly how it could go wrong.
Who writes this
Issues are signed by Paul Haull. Paul Haull is a pen name: the editorial voice of WhaleLargeCapitals, written by our research team.
We don't ask you to trust a résumé. We ask you to check our work. That's why every issue links to the original source, whether it's a Fed release, a budget report or a dealer's fee schedule.
"Don't trust me. Read page 47."
How we stay honest
We keep score in public. Every quarter we publish the Scorecard: every idea we've written about and how it turned out, including the ones that lost money.
We price the exit. Every recommendation carries a Liquidation Value box: fees, risks, and how fast you could get your money back out.
We label the money. This newsletter is free because sponsors pay for placements. Every sponsored item is marked as paid, and sponsors get the same Liquidation Value box as everything else. Those who won't disclose their fees don't get in.
Our rules
We always
Link the original source.
Put a number on it: cost, time, risk.
Admit when we were wrong.
Talk to you as an equal.
We never
Promise returns or miracle cures.
Predict the exact date of a crash.
Tell you to bet the farm.
Run hidden ads.
